Objective
and approach

Since 2008, the annual DEKRA labor market report has been investigating which professions and qualifications are in highest demand. The contents of job advertisements are analyzed at the end of each February for this purpose. The current analysis included 10,460 job vacancies published between February 19th and 25th, randomly selected from two online job portals.

In addition to the overview analysis, two professional groups are selected for more detailed analysis. This year IT specialists and sustainability management employees were selected. The full texts of 300 or respectively 343 job advertisements were analyzed for each of these professions. The goal of the job-specific analyses is to gather information on the duties of and requirements for job seekers in this area.

In an excursus, we deal with specialist recruiting abroad, a tactic employers are using increasingly to deal with shortages in trained specialists. We surveyed five experts from the sciences and practitioners regarding their activities and experiences with international employees for this purpose.
