Technicians at an all-time high

For the first time since 2018, the occupational area does not make up the largest percentage in the overall sample. It was only lower in 2010. The prevalence of IT and engineering professions has changed slightly, however the individual professions have changed. The engineering disciplines of electrical engineering and architecture are above software development – a rare situation. None of the three careers is among the top ten, evidence of a current slight easing.

Almost one in five positions in development is advertised for specialists with a technical career; this is the highest level since data has been collected. Positions in service engineering are most common among technician job vacancies (27.2 %). The percentage of job advertisements for electrical technicians and measurement engineers has dropped; 23.0 % of job offers are directed toward them. Specialists in construction or surveying, in contrast, enjoyed a larger range of options than last year. More than one in ten open positions is directed towards them.

In the industrial sector, employers primarily need workers who can set up, maintain and control machines and systems. The profession of machine and system operator is far below the ranking it held last year (26th place), however job seekers with such training remain in demand.
