Job offers mentioning AI

AI on everyone's lips – but not in recruiting

The job market 2026

Hardly any topic occupies labor market discussions as much as artificial intelligence (AI). Most of the time, they focus on how the technology will affect the future demand for skilled workers and qualifications. Despite its increasing spread, AI appears surprisingly rarely in job advertisements.

Only 165 job advertisements indicated that future employees will work with AI or need corresponding skills (1.8 %). Two work areas stand out in particular: in both areas – IT and information and design – more than one in ten positions has this requirement. All others follow at a clear distance.

As expected, the skill is in demand particularly among IT specialists. In software development, this is the case for one in five positions (20.1 %). In addition, marketing specialists in particular work with AI tools (19.7 %). In third place follows the health, social and legal consulting work area, where a good one in ten lawyers should already have worked with AI applications (10.9 %).

The distribution matches the findings of other studies: according to a survey by the ifo Institute, in the services sector the areas of advertising and market research as well as IT service providers most frequently already use AI, followed by legal and tax consultancies. According to a survey by bitkom, 41 percent of the companies surveyed use AI and 48 percent are planning or discussing it. In this respect, it is somewhat surprising how rarely this development is concretely reflected in job advertisements. Many companies may still be experimenting, or do not want to deter job seekers with little AI experience. The areas in which the sought-after specialists in the sample will later work may also play a role. Among the top 25 professions, for example, there are some occupations that so far have had little contact with AI in their professional environment.
